Six retiring LEGO Star Wars minifigures you shouldn’t miss this May the 4th

Thirteen LEGO Star Wars sets are about to retire, and within those are a handful of minifigures you shouldn’t miss – partly because there’s no telling when we’ll see them again…

This year’s Star Wars Day event is right around the corner, and some retailers are already getting in on the action with early LEGO May the 4th deals. But if you’re still ruminating over where to direct your budget this year, it’s worth considering not only the LEGO Star Wars sets leaving shelves in the very near future, but also the minifigures heading out the door too.

Here are six retiring LEGO Star Wars minifigures we’d recommend grabbing while the going’s good this May the 4th.

Peli Motto

75325 The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter flies off shelves in July just after its UCS counterpart makes its debut for May the 4th, but there are a couple of reasons to target the smaller playset before it’s gone for good. BD-72 is worth a look-in, though top of the list is easily Peli Motto, a character who remains exclusive to this 412-piece set. Given Amy Sedaris is not confirmed to appear in The Mandalorian and Grogu, it’s unlikely we’ll see Peli again any time soon.

Taun We

It took 23 years for the LEGO Star Wars team to finally release a Kaminoan minifigure, and if you haven’t yet added 75333 Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Jedi Starfighter to your collection it’s well worth doing so before it retires in July. It’s a pretty good set from top to bottom, and is also the only set to date to include Taun We. If the LEGO Group felt the need to include her here (and Lama Su in 75433 Jango Fett’s Starship), further Kamino sets are probably not in the works, so grab this one while you can.

Jedi Bob

Who ever thought we’d see Jedi Bob back in the LEGO Star Wars line-up? Even two years on from release it’s still a little bit unbelievable. But it wasn’t totally random: the legendary Jedi only returned thanks to the Disney+ special Rebuild the Galaxy, so chances are he won’t be making frequent appearances in future. If you want him (in all his retro yellow-skinned glory), set your sights on 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter. It’s reduced to just £25 at Amazon and John Lewis right now…

Ahsoka Tano

Also already discounted for May the 4th at John Lewis and Amazon, 75401 Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor includes three exclusive minifigures, but it’s Ahsoka herself who’s the biggest draw. This is the first time we’ve seen her in this outfit since the days of the stylised Clone Wars minifigures, and with the relatively recent mid-sized legs in tow it’s pretty much a perfect minifigure.

Captain Rex

Captain Rex is technically not leaving shelves for good this summer, because he’ll still be available in 75367 Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser (at least until the end of the year). But if this minifigure is all you’re interested in, make sure to grab 75391 Captain Rex Y-wing Microfighter before it retires in July: at £11.99 vs. £559.99, it’s a slightly cheaper way to add him to your collection.

Commander Cody

One of the most heavily-requested LEGO Star Wars minifigures of the past decade finally materialised in 2022 thanks to 75337 AT-TE Walker, but that set isn’t long for this world now – and nor is Commander Cody in his Phase 2 armour. With so many other Clone Trooper legions and commanders still to cover and limited LEGO Star Wars slots every year (as well as a general reduction in clone-themed sets this year), we can’t imagine Cody coming back to shelves in the immediate future…
