LEGO Icons' £130 puppy compared to the £90 Ideas cat

LEGO Icons' £130 puppy compared to the £90 Ideas cat

The LEGO Group's new £130 puppy model isn't that much bigger than the previous £90 cat creation, despite a nearly 400-piece difference.

LEGO Icons 11384 Golden Retriever Puppy has just been revealed, launching on February 1, 2026, with 2,102 pieces for £129.99 / $139.99 / €139.99. According to the price-per-piece metric, that's decent value, but that's not always the best measurement of value in a LEGO set.

An official image released for 11384 Golden Retriever Puppy has it sat next to one of the other 18+ LEGO pet builds currently on the market, 21349 Tuxedo Cat. The LEGO Ideas model has been popular since it was released in 2024, especially on social media, using 1,710 pieces and costing £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99.

Despite a difference of 392 elements between them, the two models are similarly sized, possibly due to a much higher number of small pieces in 11384 Golden Retriever Puppy for the textured fur. Either way, the cat measures 24cm deep and 32cm tall, and the puppy is 30cm deep and 30cm tall. That's a similar size in overall volume, but a £40 / $40 / €40 increase in price.

It's worth keeping in mind that much more of 11384 Golden Retriever Puppy can be moved and posed compared to 21349 Tuxedo Cat. The LEGO Ideas model is considerably more static, with just a moving mouth and head. 11384 Golden Retriever Puppy has movement in the legs, paws, tail and ears, though this fits the playful and more energetic nature of puppies versus a stereotypical cat.

The comparison is worth keeping in mind as pre-orders for 11384 Golden Retriever Puppy continue for £129.99 / $139.99 / €139.99. The set will be released on February 1, 2026, while 21349 Tuxedo Cat is available now for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99.
